Oh My! Is that a Paisley Horse?

Oh My!  Is that a Paisley Horse?

This is another little crop of the painting I am working on.  It’s small, too.  I bet this crop is only about 1.5″ or so.  Hmmmmmmm…

Have a terrific weekend!  🙂

About Isak Dinesen

Isak Dinesen was the pen name of Karen Blixen, the Danish author famously portrayed by Meryl Streep in the film of her best-selling memoir, Out of Africa. She was born near Copenhagen in 1885. In 1914, she and her new husband moved to Kenya to run a coffee plantation. She stayed on after divorcing her husband ten years later, living an unusually independent life. Her book of stories, Seven Gothic Tales, sold well, but Out of Africa made her a worldwide success. She died in 1962.

Am I a Llama or an Alpaca?  – 4″ x 6″ Watercolor

I can’t tell the difference between Llamas and Alpacas.  I’m guessing alpaca, but I really don’t know.

Our Favorite Place is having their Grand Opening tomorrow (Saturday, June 2).  I’m so excited!  They have only been open a few weeks and they have already sold one of my paintings!  Yay!  Here’s a link to what’s happening at the Grand Opening.  I’ll be there from the ribbon cutting (at 9:55 am) until around noon.  Many of the artists and Made in Oklahoma product people will be there.   If you’re within driving distance of Eufaula, OK, it’ll be worth a visit.  Hope to see you there!

Idaho Ranch – 5″ x 8″ Watercolor

Over the weekend, I booked a trip to Idaho to see my mom and my brother.  I will fly in and out of Jackson Hole, WY and drive to Blackfoot to see them.  When I did this in 2009, I took lots of photos from that drive.  It really was beautiful!  I painted this from one of those photos.

This time, I am going to spend three days in a cabin in the Teton Valley, painting, before I go home.  I am so excited!

Oboe or so

This is so cool!  I have been having a morning where multiple things have gone wrong, so I needed this.  It’s going to be a great day!!!

Oboe or so

4″ x 4″ x 1.25″ Acrylic on Canvas

I painted this little canvas for the Art House Co-op’s  The Canvas Project 3.

Each person interprets the same word differently. Some factors include native language, geographic location, age, and general view of the word.

They’re creating a visual encyclopedia where each artist is asked to visually interpret three words that are assigned to them randomly and were submitted by the Art House community onto 4×4 inch canvases. A visual encyclopedia book will then be created that includes at least one canvas from each artist. An exhibition will be held at The Brooklyn Art Library on December 3rd, 2010.

The goal of this project is to create Volume 2 of the encyclopedia. The first volume was exhibited at the Hartsfeld-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, GA from July to September of 2009 as well as turned into the first volume of the book.

I am in the first volume.  It was a cool project.  The one they picked for the book was Insolvent. My words this time are Oboe, Pineapple and Dive.  What I don’t know about oboes, is a lot!!  So I did what I could and it ended up being really fun!  Here’s another shot of my oboe.  🙂

Three Tulips

4″ x 6″ Mixed Media

When I painted this, I loaded it with lots of color with watercolor!  It was flat and stripedy.  (yes, I said stripedy… he he)  I came back and brushed on bits of white and pale colored acrylic.  I liked it much better.  No more stripedy!  🙂

A - Apricots 500x500

 Apricots 2.5″ x 3.5″ Watercolor & Pen

This is the “A” card from an alphabet ATC exchange I took part in recently on WetCanvas.com. Okay… I’ll share the whole alphabet on my blog this month. It was fun. The letter they drew for me was H. So far I have received Hot Air Balloons, a Hackberry Butterfly, a Hippo, a Hungry Mouse, H is for History with Mr. Peabody and his boy Sherman, with their “way back” machine, and a Happiness card. Fun!
