Cockatoo Toys
4″ x 6″ Watercolor Postcard
This cockatoo lives in this tree and greets all visitors to Currumbin bird sanctuary, in Australia. He is free to come and go as he pleases. With all the little toys they have attached to that tree, I can see why he keeps coming back. It was a reference by Crispur2005 on this weekend’s WDE at WetCanvas.
I had a great time playing with my watercolors Saturday. I also played with my acrylics and have several new paintings to share. 🙂
About Jack Lemmon
Jack Lemmon is best known for the poignant sweetness he brought to comedic roles in movies like Some Like It Hot and The Apartment, but is also remembered for his dramatic roles, including the struggling alcoholic in Days of Wine and Roses. He was born in 1925 into a wealthy Boston family and knew by the age of four that he wanted to become an actor. He won two Academy Awards and was known for his collaborations with director Billy Wilder and costar Walter Matthau. He died in 2001.

What a beautiful piece Beth. I love the quote too, it’s so true.
My Grandparents had a cockatoo when I was growing up, they lived in a small country town and it decided the free food from my nan was a good deal so it lived with them (Though they did make it a cage for nights). It used to have this love hate relationship with their dog and would always repeat certain phrases my nan would say. I have no idea at all what ever happened to the cockatoo though.

Thanks so much, Chloe! I’m not a big bird fan up close, because they bite. They are fun to watch from a distance though. It’s neat how the bird decided to go live with your nan. Cool story! 🙂

I’m the same, I really don’t trust birds. There’s something unpredictable about them but they are beautiful creatures, observed from a distance.

I baby sat an African Gray once. It liked me and wanted me to rub his belly all the time. All good. Then weeks later, he saw me in a hat and he bit me. Never again! It hurt! 😕

Yay! A watercolor. This guy does look fun to paint and I like the way you handled the background texture. I went to the WDE site to look at those photos and am surprised you did not choose that colorful church. 🙂
